$200 Million
WHO HE IS
Born July 14, 1988 in Crumlin, Dublin, Ireland, Conor Anthony McGregor grew up in a working-class Dublin neighbourhood and was collecting social welfare payments as a young adult while training as a plumber’s apprentice. He discovered MMA at 12 and never looked back. He became the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two weight divisions simultaneously — Featherweight and Lightweight — and transformed combat sports forever with his charisma, trash talk and knockout power. The Mayweather boxing match in 2017 made him a genuine global superstar. Off the cage, he built one of the most successful celebrity alcohol brands in history. He is the highest-earning MMA fighter of all time by a significant margin — though his net worth has been significantly impacted by legal troubles, a broken leg in 2021, and the loss of his Proper No. Twelve stake following a 2024 civil assault verdict.
1. FIGHTING EARNINGS — THE PLATFORM
McGregor’s fighting income is the most complex of any athlete to calculate because UFC fighters earn a disclosed base purse plus undisclosed PPV revenue shares — and McGregor negotiated some of the largest PPV cuts in UFC history.
| Fight | Opponent | Year | Disclosed Purse | Est. PPV Share | Total Est. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Various early UFC | Multiple | 2013–2015 | ~$3M total | — | ~$3M |
| UFC 189 | Chad Mendes | 2015 | $3.28M | — | ~$3.3M |
| UFC 194 | Jose Aldo | 2015 | $4.5M | — | ~$4.5M |
| UFC 202 | Nate Diaz | 2016 | $5.5M | ~$10M | ~$15M |
| UFC 205 | Eddie Alvarez | 2016 | $3M | ~$22M | ~$25M |
| Mayweather Boxing | Floyd Mayweather | 2017 | $30M | ~$70M | ~$100M |
| UFC 229 | Khabib | 2018 | $3M | ~$47M | ~$50M |
| UFC 246 | Donald Cerrone | 2020 | $5M | ~$15M | ~$20M |
| UFC 257 | Dustin Poirier | 2021 | $5M | ~$15M | ~$20M |
| UFC 264 | Dustin Poirier | 2021 | $5M | ~$10M | ~$15M |
| Total | ~$235M |
The Mayweather fight — the biggest single payday: The August 2017 boxing crossover generated over 4.3 million PPV buys making it one of the most lucrative events in combat sports history. McGregor’s guaranteed purse was $30 million but his total including PPV share was approximately $100 million — more than he had earned in his entire UFC career to that point combined.
Tax situation — Ireland: McGregor is an Irish resident and pays Irish income tax. Ireland’s top rate is 40% plus USC (Universal Social Charge) of 8% and PRSI of 4% — giving a combined effective rate of approximately 52% on high income. This is one of the highest personal tax rates in the world.
| Period | Gross Fight Earnings | Irish Tax ~52% | After Tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2013–2016 | ~$50M | ~52% | ~$24M |
| 2017 (Mayweather) | ~$100M | ~52% | ~$48M |
| 2018–2021 | ~$85M | ~52% | ~$41M |
| Total after tax | ~$113M |
2. ENDORSEMENTS & BRAND DEALS
McGregor earns approximately $10–15M per year from endorsements during active periods. His portfolio includes:
Monster Energy — Long-running UFC partnership, appears on his fight kit Beats by Dre — Electronics partnership Burger King — Fast food campaign Reebok/UFC — Uniform deal during active fighting years Dystopia — His own clothing line
Following his 2024 civil assault conviction, McGregor lost several major endorsement partners including being removed from Proper No. Twelve promotional duties. This significantly reduced his endorsement income.
| Period | Annual Endorsements | Years | Gross Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2015–2021 (peak) | ~$15M/yr | 6 years | ~$90M |
| 2021–2024 (inactive) | ~$8M/yr | 3 years | ~$24M |
| 2024–2026 (post-verdict) | ~$3M/yr | 2 years | ~$6M |
| Total gross | ~$120M |
After Irish tax (~52%): ~$58M net
3. PROPER NO. TWELVE — THE GAME CHANGER
This is the single most important financial event of McGregor’s career — and also the most complicated.
McGregor launched Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey in September 2018 with partners Ken Austin and agent Audie Attar. The brand exploded in popularity driven entirely by McGregor’s promotional machine. In 2020 Proximo Spirits (owners of Jose Cuervo) paid $250M for a 49% stake. In April 2021 Proximo acquired majority ownership in a deal valued at up to $600M total including the earlier $250M payment.
McGregor’s personal share from the full transaction is estimated at $150–200M pre-tax.
The 2024 legal verdict twist: Following a Dublin civil court verdict finding McGregor liable for sexual assault in November 2024, he was removed from all Proper No. Twelve promotional activities and lost his remaining ownership stake. The verdict also cost him approximately €250,000 in damages plus over €1M in legal costs, and the loss of several major endorsement deals.
Proper No. Twelve after tax: Ireland’s Capital Gains Tax rate is 33%. On an estimated $175M personal gain: ~$117M after tax
4. OTHER VENTURES
Black Forge Inn — McGregor purchased a Dublin pub which has become a tourist attraction. Estimated value: ~$3M.
Forged Irish Stout — New beer brand launched 2024 to replace his lost Proper No. Twelve income stream.
Road House (2024) — Acting debut in the Amazon Prime remake, reportedly paid $5.5M — McGregor deliberately negotiated this fee to surpass The Rock’s first acting payday.
Real Estate — Owns properties in Dublin, Ibiza, and Marbella. Excluded per our methodology.
RICHPEEK ESTIMATE: $200 Million
| Income Source | After Tax / Net Estimate |
|---|---|
| Fighting earnings | ~$113M |
| Endorsements | ~$58M |
| Proper No. Twelve | ~$117M |
| Other ventures | ~$15M |
| Legal costs & damages | -$5M |
| Lifestyle & expenses (-35%) | -$105M |
| Gross total | ~$193M |
We round to $200 million — the middle of the $200–$250M range cited by most sources. McGregor himself has claimed up to $650M but that figure is wildly inconsistent with verified data and ignores Irish taxes, legal costs and lifestyle expenses. The real number after taxes and outgoings is significantly lower than his gross career earnings suggest.
The tax reality: McGregor’s 52% Irish tax rate is brutal. Had he been based in Dubai or another zero-tax jurisdiction like Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, his net worth would likely be $350–400M today. His Irish residency has cost him approximately $150M+ in taxes over his career.
